Search for information on former members of the Princess Irene Brigade
Nederlands
English
The webmaster has compiled a list of approximately 1,800 men who served with the Princess Irene Brigade. He receives requests every week for detailed information about former members of the Brigade. Unfortunately, it is not possible for him to carry out extensive individual research for everyone who contacts him.
If you are researching a relative who served with the Princess Irene Brigade, you may be able to obtain his military personnel records. These records may contain information about his military service and career. In Dutch, such a record is commonly referred to as a Staat van Dienst (record of military service).
How to request military service records
For information about requesting Dutch military personnel records, please consult the official website of the Netherlands Ministry of Defence:
For older military personnel records, the National Archives of the Netherlands may be the appropriate institution. The correct archive depends, among other things, on the person's year of birth and where his personnel file is held.
Please consult the official guidance to determine where your request should be submitted.
For general enquiries about Dutch military history, you may also contact the Netherlands Institute of Military History (NIMH):
E-mail: informatievragennimh@mindef.nl
This is a general contact address for the NIMH. It has not been specifically confirmed as an address for requests for military service records.
If you have documents, photographs or other information about a former member of the Princess Irene Brigade, I would be pleased to hear from you. Such material helps preserve the history of the Brigade and the personal stories of the men who served with it.
Good luck with your research!
